How the continuity discount works
A 20% continuity discount applies starting from the second year of uninterrupted subscription. After the second year, it increases to 40%, which you keep for as long as you continue to renew your subscription on time.
Here’s how it works.
Annual subscriptions
- New purchase: Full subscription price
- First renewal: 20% off
- Second renewal and onwards: 40% off
Monthly subscriptions
- New purchases and renewals during the first 12 months: Full price
- Months 13–24: 20% off
- Months 25 and onward: 40% off
Continuity discounts are subscription-specific
Each subscription is tracked separately based on when it was originally purchased. Discounts don't transfer between subscriptions. New subscriptions always start at full price, even if you have existing discounted subscriptions.
Missed payments
If you accidentally miss your renewal date, you don’t have to lose your discount. You can pay for a backdated renewal. To preserve your uninterrupted subscription, we’ll increase your renewal bill by the price of the gap period.
To keep your discount, you need to complete a backdated renewal within these timeframes:
- Annual subscriptions: Within 6 months of expiration
- Monthly subscriptions: Within 1 month of expiration
Changes to the continuity discount from January 2, 2025
Starting January 2, 2025, the continuity discount no longer applies to new commercial subscriptions purchased by organizations. This change affects all JetBrains IDE, .NET tool, All Products Pack, and dotUltimate subscriptions.
Only new subscriptions purchased after this date are affected. Existing subscriptions will keep their current discount rates. Personal subscriptions also remain eligible for the discount.
You’ll also keep your discount if you upgrade from a single IDE subscription to the All Products Pack or dotUltimate bundle. However, this doesn’t apply to downgrades, like switching from the All Products Pack to a single IDE subscription.
Example
If your organization has 100 IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate subscriptions with a 40% discount, that discount will remain in place as long as you continue to renew. You can also upgrade to the All Products Pack at any time and keep the same discount.
However, any new licenses purchased after January 2, 2025, won’t be eligible for the discount. If you later switch from the All Products Pack back to IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate, you’ll need to pay the full price.
