How upgrades and downgrades work
When you switch, you’ll pay for the full billing period – one year or one month from the switching date. We’ll credit the unused time on your current subscription toward the new one.
At checkout, you’ll see how many days of your new subscription are covered by this credit. You’ll only need to pay for the remainder of the period.
Continuity discount
Whether the continuity discount still applies when you switch depends on your subscription type.
Personal subscriptions
Upgrading or downgrading doesn’t affect your continuity discount. Your previous streak of uninterrupted payments still counts, and if you’ve already earned the discount, it carries over.
Commercial (organizational) subscriptions
As of January 2, 2025, new and downgraded commercial subscriptions are no longer eligible for the continuity discount. For more information, see Changes to continuity discount.
Here’s what it means for you:
- Upgrading keeps your discount intact. Your previous streak of uninterrupted payments still counts, and if you’ve already earned the discount, it carries over.
- Downgrading means you’ll lose any continuity discount you’ve accumulated for this subscription. The downgraded subscription won’t be eligible for it.
